4 yard skip

4 Yard Skip Falkirk

This 4-yard midi skip is great for disposing of moderate volumes of home, construction, gardening, or non-hazardous commercial waste from maintenance, house restorations, clearouts, or DIY projects in a straightforward, practical, and cost-effective manner. Its diminutive size makes it suitable for driveways, gardens, and other areas where room is limited. It is also known as a mini skip or a midi skip.

Can it be used for what types of jobs?

Both DIY’ers and the building trade and gardening firms commonly hire a four-yard skip for works like bathroom renovation, kitchen replacement, clearing garden waste, and landscaping.

Private individuals can also hire this service to clean out a room in their home in preparation for redecorating or repurposing (for example, converting a child’s room into a home office). Clients in the commercial sector employ these on-site for a variety of reasons, including furniture disposal, old stock disposal, and soft strip-outs/revamping of buildings.

How much waste can it handle?

How much waste does it hold?

A four-yard small skip can store about 40 ordinary black bin bags.

How big is it?

A four-yard skip has these measurements:

1.8 m long x 1.3 m wide x 1 m high in metric (approximately)

5ft 11in long x 4ft 3in wide x 3ft 3in high in imperial (approximately)

Is it okay to put any kind of waste in there?

General household waste, green waste (soil, plant material, tree waste), and construction waste (stone, rubble) are all acceptable materials for these skips (please ask us if you intend to dispose of plasterboard however).

We have other sizes such as 2 yard skip, 4 yard skip, 6 yard skip, 8 yard skip.

What types of waste cannot be disposed of?

Paints, oils, liquids, tyres, car batteries, soiled nappies, mattresses, and huge amounts of carpet and electrical appliances are among the items that should not be thrown away in a general waste midi skip (e.g. fridge freezers which require to be degassed).

Furthermore, no asbestos-containing (or suspected-of-containing) goods should ever be thrown away in a skip. Large volumes of electrical waste (e.g. light fittings) and medical waste are not authorised, and business clients should be aware of this. Before placing goods in the skip, please ask us if you have any questions.

Is a council permit necessary?

A midi skip is the ideal size for storing items in a garage, driveway, garden, or private yard, and we always recommend placing it off-road and away from public access if at all possible to prevent unauthorised dumping into and scavenging from your skip.

If you don’t have access to private land and must place it on the road (public highway) or other public land, you’ll need a skip permit, which you must order and pay for directly from your local government. This process can take up to 14 days, and the road permit must be obtained before the skip is dropped, otherwise, you will be penalised. When ordering the permit, make sure you allow enough time for the skip to be removed before it expires.

For further information on fees and other criteria for placing a skip on the road, visit the Falkirk Council website.
